Sourced figures: rates in the table carry their source and check month. Most are published by a single seller for a single boat, so they are not a market price, and nothing here is legal advice.

On the one guide we can cite, you do not register yourself. Neptune Liveaboards reports that since 1 April 2026 every Komodo National Park visitor must be registered in advance through SiOra, and a local guesthouse guide says only licensed operators have access. Your part is to send exact passport details to your seller, confirm who is registering you, and hold your QR ticket before you sail.
What is SiOra?
SiOra is the park's online reservation system, which the reports below tie to the daily limit. Neptune Liveaboards reports a rule dating from 1 April 2026: advance registration for everyone, a ceiling of 1,000 people a day across the main sites, and no walk-in tickets. On that account you cannot turn up and buy entry on the day.
Sources add detail that does not always agree. Samara Liveaboard says the annual allocation was fully booked and that the park authority added at least 500 extra daily places in stages for September to December 2026. That is an operator quoting the authority. Komodo Island Tour reports three sessions of about 300 to 330 people each: 05:00 to 08:00, 08:00 to 11:00, and 15:00 to 18:00 WITA. How the places divide among islands is disputed, which we set out in site quotas for Padar, Rinca and the marine areas.
What matters for you as a guest is that a park place is now something your trip has or does not have, on a particular date, for particular sites, in a particular session. Neptune Liveaboards warns of dates between June and September when the park is full, so a boat with a free cabin is not the whole answer in those months.
Can you register yourself?
No, according to the only guide we have on the point. Casa de Capulet, a Labuan Bajo guesthouse whose guide was checked in August 2026, says individuals cannot create SiOra bookings and only licensed operators have access. That is a local business describing the system, so you may wish to confirm it with your seller.
The consequence, if that guide is right, is that your seller's standing affects your access to the park. A chain of sellers makes this harder: Green Rinjani, for example, limits its own role to booking and reservation and leaves logistics to the local boat operator. When an agent sells you the cabin, the registering party may be someone you have never spoken to. So ask, and expect a name in reply:
- Which company will register me in SiOra?
- Has that company done so already for this departure, or does it do so after I pay?
- Which sites and which session will my registration show?
- Will I receive the QR ticket directly, or will someone hold it for me?
What is the sequence from booking to boarding?
From a guest's side, it runs in the order below. Casa de Capulet gives the core of it, and the rest is what other sellers add around that core.
| Step | Who acts | What happens | Who says so |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Book | You and the seller | Boat and date agreed. Ask now who will register you. | Our advice |
| 2. Send details | You | Passport details go to the operator or seller | Casa de Capulet |
| 3. Register | Operator | You are registered against a date, sites and a session | Casa de Capulet |
| 4. Ticket | System | A QR ticket is issued, with the name matching the passport | Casa de Capulet |
| 5. Correct | You, then operator | A new passenger or new passport is reported to the operator without delay | Neptune Liveaboards |
| 6. Board | You | Carry your passport or ID, plus cash for anything left to pay | Salam Ransel, in its packing advice |
Which details will your operator need?
Passport details, exactly as printed. Casa de Capulet says names must match the passport, and Neptune Liveaboards treats a mismatch as something to correct at once. Neither source itemises every field on the form, so ask your seller for its own list and supply it once, in one message, for everyone in the party.
A few habits prevent most of the trouble:
- Copy each name from the passport page itself, not from a booking or a memory of how it is spelled.
- Use the passport you will carry on the trip. If a renewal is due before you travel, tell the seller now.
- Send children's details too. Neptune Liveaboards bases its child fare on the need to declare each person aboard to the harbour.
- Wait for a confirmed booking. A first inquiry has no need of your passport, and details sent to a seller you later drop stay in that seller's inbox.
- Ask for the ticket or a confirmation that shows your name, and read it the day it comes.
What if your name or date changes?
Tell the operator straight away, and expect that a date change could cost you the ticket. The rules reported since September 2026 are tight, and they can cost a guest money.
| What changes | What sources report | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A passport is renewed | Neptune Liveaboards: the operator needs to hear fast, so the entry can be fixed | Send the new details the day you have them |
| A different guest takes the place | Dive Komodo: a ticket belongs to the named guest and cannot pass to someone else | Assume a new ticket is needed, and ask who pays |
| Your trip moves to another date | Samara Liveaboard: from 22 September 2026, a ticket works on its printed date and no other | Ask whether the ticket can be reissued, or must be bought again |
| You cancel | Samara Liveaboard and Dive Komodo: not refundable once purchased | Check whether it has been bought before you cancel |
Ask your seller, too, what happens to a date-locked ticket when the harbour itself stops boats from sailing, since the sources do not say. The wider refund picture is on our page about cancellation and refund terms.
Should you pay park tickets early?
Only when your seller's terms require it, and then only once the trip is firm. Sellers split on this point. Dive Komodo wants the tickets paid in full alongside a 30 per cent deposit on activities, and will not buy them until then. Neptune Liveaboards describes the park charges as paid in cash, in rupiah or US dollars, on board or at embarkation. Salam Ransel lists park fees as excluded and tells guests to bring cash for them. Hello Flores says the fees are included on one shared cruise it sells.
So you could meet four different arrangements on four boats, and registration and payment may not fall on the same day. Paying early locks money into a ticket that is tied to a name and a date. Paying late leaves you relying on the seller having secured your place another way. Neither is wrong in itself. What you need is a clear answer to one question: "On what date do you register me, on what date do you buy my ticket, and what do I pay on each?"
The price table on this page carries the foreign-visitor entry ticket as Neptune Liveaboards reports it. It reaches us through an operator, not from the park office's published tariff. For how the ticket multiplies across days and what ranger fees add, see park fees on a charter.
Does anything need a separate permit?
Yes, two activities on the sources we have. Samara Liveaboard reports a drone permit that can take up to three days to process, and a separate ticket for sport fishing, with fishing banned outright in protected zones. Neither sits inside your entry ticket, so raise them when you book. Salam Ransel adds that drones are not allowed at Kalong Island. These rules, along with rangers and wildlife conduct, are covered in park rules for rangers and drones.
What else should you know about permits?
Can I buy a Komodo National Park ticket on arrival?
No, on the current reports. Neptune Liveaboards says there are no walk-in tickets and that every visitor must be registered in advance through SiOra. Sort this out through your seller before you travel.
Do I need my passport on the boat?
Yes, carry it. Salam Ransel lists ID or passport in its packing advice, and Casa de Capulet says the name on the ticket must match your passport. Keep it where you can reach it on the first morning.
Can a friend use my ticket if I drop out?
No. Dive Komodo says a ticket stays with the guest named on it. Your friend would need to be registered in their own name, so tell the operator at once and ask what that will cost.
Is my ticket still valid if the trip moves by a day?
Probably not. Samara Liveaboard reports that tickets have been locked to their printed date since 22 September 2026. Ask your seller whether a moved trip means a new ticket, and who pays for it.
How do I know my seller can register me?
Ask for the name of the registering company, and for your ticket once issued. We have not found a public list you could check it against, so a ticket with your name on it suggests, on that guide's account, that a licensed party handled your booking.
Which published prices did we check?
Public rates and fees from third-party sellers and guides, each with its source and the month we checked it. Most of these are published rates for one seller or one boat, not a market average, and they can change without notice; check the source before you rely on a figure.
